Network management

As the name suggest, a network manage supervises and maintains a lagers network of computer, servers, printers and other equipment in organisation. Large organisation which has many offices and computer will typically employ network manage to run their network companies like ISPs (internet service providers) will also have people who do this job.

A network is the main function of the network will be to facilitate communication between users of the network. As the network manages, you will need to set up email addresses and passwords for user. Users might also need to be able to transfer files. For this, you might need to set up FTP facilities for some or all. Finally, part of the process of setting up the network includes allocating user right and all allocating files spaces to individual.

Network management involves:

v  Monitoring the network to check whether it is proving a good level of performance

v  Configuring network hardware such as routers to provide the required network facilities

v  Dealing with problem and faults

Designing and implementing changes and additions to the network.

What skills and characteristic are needed?

First- rate, detailed technical knowledge of network software and hardware is essential for job. Sound problem – solving skills are also required.
